Force Install Helperbird Extension

Administrative guide for deploying Helperbird in your organization. Manage licenses, deployments, and team accessibility.

·

This guide is for G Suite administrators who want to automatically install Helperbird for all users in their organization. Force installing ensures everyone has access to Helperbird's features without having to install it themselves.

Before you start: You'll need G Suite administrator rights and must be logged into your G Suite admin account.

Accessing Chrome Management

Step 1: Open the Admin Console

Log in to your G Suite Admin console by going to admin.google.com.

Step 2: Navigate to Chrome Management

From the Home page, go to Devices, then click Chrome, and finally select Apps & Extensions.

Step 3: Select Your Organization

Choose the organizational unit where you want to install Helperbird. You can select your entire organization or specific groups.

Tip: If you want to test first, create a test organizational unit with a few users before rolling out to everyone.

Force Installing Helperbird

Step 1: Add a New Extension

Click the yellow + button at the bottom right corner of the page.

Step 2: Enter Helperbird's Extension ID

In the dialog box, go to the Add Chrome app or extension by ID section and enter Helperbird's extension ID: ahmapmilbkfamljbpgphfndeemhnajme

Step 3: Set to Force Install

In the Installation Policy dropdown, select Force install. Then click Save to apply your changes.

Tip: Force install means users can't uninstall Helperbird unless you change this setting later. If you want users to have the option to remove it, choose "Force install + pin" instead.

Verifying the Installation

Step 1: Check the Settings

After saving, you should see Helperbird listed in your Apps & Extensions with "Force install" as the policy.

Step 2: Test on a User Account

Log in to a Chrome browser with a user account from your selected organizational unit. Helperbird should automatically appear in their extensions.

Step 3: Confirm Across Devices

The extension will install on all Chrome browsers linked to your organization. Users will see Helperbird appear automatically the next time they open Chrome.

Tip: Changes can take a few minutes to propagate. If users don't see Helperbird right away, have them restart their browser or wait up to 15 minutes.

I really liked the ease of setting up and also accessing the tool while you are on chrome. I had no trouble, and within a week found myself using it without even noticing.

I have ADHD and yesterday Helperbird and the text-to-speech function (available in free version) turned a 28-page reading assignment from a two-day task to roughly two hours, maybe three at the absolute most. It helped tremendously! And I loved that the text-to-speech has such a fluid voice compared to a lot of others I've used! Honestly, the fact that this was created by someone who knows the struggles is something I love, because then it has neurodivergency in mind. I've tried too many things in the past that were created by neurotypical folk trying to be helpful to us and I do appreciate it, but it doesn't work as well because our brains work different. Highly recommend!

This chrome extension is absolutely amazing. I'm a Primary school teacher and it helps children with a broad range of needs. It's so easy to set up. I love the way it syncs across devices so set up is seamless across all the children's computers. The customizable features are a game changer for allowing children to enjoy reading and accessing the web in our school. The best application I have ever seen for school children. Looking forward to trying the iPad application soon.

This tool helps so many of our students at school - not only those students who have dyslexia, but students and adults who have other learning differences (and those who don't!). It helps ensure that all students have the opportunity to succeed in their learning!

This is my first google review ever! I have to share that the accessibility and support for independent access for students that Helperbird provides, is a game changer. It is constantly being updated with new features based on feedback and it is extremely user friendly. The ability to customize the settings allows students to have control over their own learning, aligning with Universal Design for Learning. Looking forward to sharing with students and fellow educators on a daily basis. Thanks, Helperbird team!
