How to Sync Your Helperbird Settings Across Devices

Learn how to turn on sync in Helperbird so your preferences, colors, and feature settings stay the same on every device you use.

·

What Does Sync Do?

When sync is turned on, your Helperbird settings are saved to your browser account and automatically applied on every device where you are signed in. This means your font choices, color preferences, feature toggles, and other customizations follow you from one computer to another.

When sync is off, your settings are stored locally on the device you are using. Changes you make on one device will not appear on another.

Step 1: Open Helperbird

Click the Helperbird icon in your browser toolbar. It looks like a small owl and is usually in the top-right corner of your browser.

This will open the Helperbird menu.

Step 2: Open the Settings Page

Click the gear icon in the top-left corner of the Helperbird menu. This will open the Settings page.

Step 3: Turn On Sync

On the Settings page, look for the Info section. You will see a Sync row with a toggle switch next to it.

Click the toggle to turn sync on. The toggle will change to show it is enabled. Your settings will now sync across all devices where you are signed into the same browser account.

To turn sync off, click the toggle again. Your settings will stay on the current device only.

What Gets Synced

When sync is enabled, the following are kept in sync across your devices:

Feature settings such as which features are turned on or off, your chosen colors for overlays, text, backgrounds, and links, font choices and sizes, spacing and alignment preferences, and any other customizations you have made in Helperbird.

What is not synced: Your saved notes, highlights, and extracted text in the Notebook are stored separately and may not sync across devices.

When to Keep Sync Off

There are some situations where you may want to keep sync turned off. If you use a shared or public computer, keeping settings local prevents your preferences from appearing on other people's sessions. If you prefer different settings on different devices, for example larger text on a laptop but smaller text on a desktop monitor, keeping sync off lets you customize each device independently.

Tip: Make sure you are signed into your browser account (Google account for Chrome, Microsoft account for Edge) on all devices where you want your settings to sync. Sync relies on your browser's built-in sync system.

I have been trying to find ways to make my child happy to go to school again, and someone recommended helperbird. She loves helperbird, and she is now much happier about the idea of returning to school. I think this might be a game changer, as they do so much web based schoolwork and research. She says they really understand people with dyslexia
