How to Check Your Grammar on Any Website with Helperbird

Learn how to use Helperbird's Grammar Checker to check and correct your grammar on any website. A complete guide to the Grammar feature.

·

What is the Grammar Checker?

The Grammar Checker reviews your text and corrects grammar mistakes. You can type or paste text into it, or select text on a webpage, and Helperbird will return a corrected version. This is different from the Spell Check feature, which only checks spelling — the Grammar Checker looks at sentence structure, word usage, and overall grammar.

This is a Helperbird Pro feature.

Who is This For?

This feature is helpful for:

  • Students writing essays, emails, or assignments
  • Anyone who wants a quick grammar check before sending a message
  • English language learners who want help with grammar
  • People with dyslexia or writing difficulties
  • Anyone who wants to improve their writing

Step 1: Open Helperbird

Click the Helperbird icon in your browser toolbar. It looks like a small owl and is usually in the top-right corner of your browser.

This will open the Helperbird menu.

Step 2: Select Text on a Webpage

Go to any webpage and highlight the text you want to check. Click and drag to select a sentence or paragraph. You can also type or paste text directly into the Grammar Checker in the next step.

Step 3: Open the Grammar Checker

Use the Highlight Menu, the right-click context menu, or find the Grammar option in the Helperbird menu. The Grammar Checker panel will open with your selected text ready to check.

If you did not select text beforehand, you can type or paste text into the text area. The Grammar Checker supports up to 1,000 characters at a time.

Step 4: Check Your Text

Click the Check this button. Helperbird will analyze your text and return a corrected version with grammar fixes applied.

Step 5: Use the Corrected Text

Once the corrected text appears, you can:

  • Copy the corrected text to your clipboard using the Copy button
  • Listen to the corrected text read aloud using the Listen button
  • Start over to check a new piece of text

Tip: Use the Grammar Checker alongside the Spell Check feature for the most thorough review of your writing. Spell Check catches misspelled words in real time, while the Grammar Checker reviews sentence structure and word usage.

A truly great extension! We installed this on all of our 200 Chromebooks across the 3 special schools i work in and it has greatly helped our students use technology to learn. It not only helps our dyslexic learners, but also our autistic and ADHD students by helping remove distractions and making the web a more accessible place. Support is fast and efficient, and updates are very regular with new features constantly being added!

Where to start! Firstly, I'd like to thank Robert (the developer) for his generosity - the app is extremely cheap as apps go. It is very apparent that this app is a labour of love - Robert is constantly working on it and improving things, adding new features, etc. As someone with ADHD and ASD, I have always had to piece-meal together the features I need to help me study effectively - half a dozen different apps / extensions, and even then they don't quite meet my expectations. Helperbird, however, offers SO MUCH more, and all in one place - you can finetune your experience to your heart's desire. The features I particularly love are summarise, simplify, sticky notes, highlighting, and the amazing immersive reader with TTS. I can't sing Helperbird's praises enough. Thank you, Robert, for such a thoughtful - and genuinely helpful - app. You are empowering the neurodivergent everywhere.
