How to Manage Your Sticky Notes and Highlights in Helperbird

Learn how to create, edit, delete, search, and export your sticky notes and highlights using the Notes app in Helperbird. A complete guide to managing your saved content.

·

What This Guide Covers

The Notes app in Helperbird stores all your sticky notes and highlights in one place. This guide shows you how to manage that saved content — including how to create new notes right from the Notes app, edit your notes and highlights, delete items you no longer need, visit the original page where you created them, and keep everything organized.

Step 1: Open the Notes App

Click the Helperbird icon in your browser toolbar to open the Helperbird menu. Scroll down to the All Features section and click the arrow to expand it. Find the Notes row and click its open button to open the Notes app in a new tab.

Step 2: Create a New Note

You do not need to be on a website to create a note. You can create one right from the Notes app:

  1. Click the New note button in the toolbar at the top of the Notes app
  2. Give your note a title
  3. Type the body of your note
  4. Pick a color for the note
  5. Save your note

Notes created this way are stored in a General group, since they are not attached to any web page. This is a great way to jot down quick ideas, to-do lists, or study notes that do not belong to a specific website.

Step 3: Filter by Notes or Highlights

At the top of the Notes app, you will see filter tabs:

  • All – Shows all your saved items
  • Notes – Shows only your sticky notes
  • Highlights – Shows only your highlights

Click the Notes tab to see just your sticky notes, or click the Highlights tab to see just your highlights. This makes it easier to find and manage specific items.

Step 4: Edit a Note

You can change a note at any time without leaving the Notes app:

  1. Find the note you want to change
  2. Click the pencil button on the note's card
  3. Update the title, body, or color of the note
  4. Save your changes

Your changes are saved right away, so the note is updated everywhere it appears.

Step 5: Edit a Highlight

Highlights can be edited too:

  1. Find the highlight you want to change
  2. Click the pencil button on the highlight's card
  3. Update the title, description, or color of the highlight
  4. Save your changes

Note: The text you captured from the web page cannot be changed. This keeps your highlight a true record of what the page said. You can only edit the details around it, like the title and description.

Step 6: Visit the Original Page

Each note or highlight shows the domain name of the website it came from as a badge on its card. Click the domain badge to open the original website where you created that sticky note or highlight. This is useful when you want to go back and review the full page or add more notes to it.

Note: Notes you created from the Notes app live in the General group and are not linked to a website, so their badge does not open a page.

Step 7: Delete a Note or Highlight

To delete a single sticky note or highlight:

  1. Find the note or highlight you want to remove in the Notes app
  2. Click the Delete button in the top right corner of the card

The note or highlight will be permanently removed from your Notebook.

Step 8: Delete Several Notes

The Notes app does not have a bulk delete option — notes and highlights are removed one card at a time. If you want to clean up several notes or highlights:

  1. Use the filter tabs or the search bar to narrow down what you see
  2. Click the Delete button on each note or highlight you want to remove

Tip: If you want to keep a copy of anything before deleting it, export it first (see Step 10).

Step 9: Search Your Notes

If you have a lot of saved content, use the search bar at the top of the Notes app. Type a keyword and your notes will be filtered instantly. This helps you find a specific sticky note or highlight without scrolling through everything.

Click the X next to the search bar to clear your search and see all notes again.

Step 10: Export or Print Your Notes

Before deleting notes, you may want to save a copy:

  1. Click Export as PDF or Export as Text in the toolbar at the top of the Notes app
  2. Click each note or highlight you want to include — a bar at the top shows how many you have selected
  3. Click the confirm button in that bar to finish the export

Choosing Export as PDF opens your browser's print dialog, where you can save the notes as a PDF file or print a hard copy. Choosing Export as Text downloads a plain text file.

The exported PDF is designed to be easy to read and share. It includes a branded Helperbird header, and your notes are grouped by the website they came from. Each note shows a category badge and the date it was saved, so you always know what kind of note it is and when you made it.

Tip: Regularly export important highlights and notes before cleaning up your Notebook, so you always have a backup of your research and ideas.
