How to Install Helperbird

Install the Helperbird extension from the Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari store. The store link, the steps for each browser, and where to go once it lands.

On this page

Helperbird installs from your browser's own extension store. Pick your browser below.

Google Chrome

  1. Open the Helperbird page on the Chrome Web Store (opens in a new tab).
  2. Click Add to Chrome.
  3. Click Add extension in the box that appears.

The Helperbird owl icon appears in the top right of Chrome.

Microsoft Edge

  1. Open the Helperbird page in the Microsoft Edge Add-ons store (opens in a new tab).
  2. Click Get.
  3. Click Add extension in the box that appears.

The Helperbird owl icon appears in the top right of Edge.

Mozilla Firefox

  1. Open the Helperbird page in the Firefox Add-ons store (opens in a new tab).
  2. Click Add to Firefox.
  3. Click Add in the box that appears.

Helperbird needs Firefox 128 or later.

Firefox works differently from the other browsers: the owl icon opens Helperbird in the Firefox sidebar rather than a popup. See how to open Helperbird in the Firefox sidebar.

Safari on Mac

Safari does not have an extension store. Helperbird comes from the App Store as an app that carries the Safari extension.

  1. Open Helperbird for Safari in the App Store (opens in a new tab).
  2. Click Get, then install it.
  3. Open Safari, then Settings, then the Extensions tab. Older versions of macOS call this Preferences.
  4. Tick the box next to Helperbird.

Helperbird needs macOS 11 or later. Nothing appears in Safari until you tick that box.

To let Helperbird work on your websites, open a webpage and click the Helperbird icon in Safari’s toolbar. Use Safari’s access prompt to allow it on that website or on all websites. You can review website access in Safari → Settings → Websites → Helperbird. See Apple’s extension guide (opens in a new tab).

On iPhone or iPad, follow the Safari setup and website access steps.

Google Docs, Slides and Sheets

The Google Workspace add-on is a separate product from the browser extension, with its own settings and its own install. It comes from the Google Workspace Marketplace, not from a browser store.

See how to install the Helperbird add-on for Google Docs and Slides.

iPhone, iPad and Android

After You Install

Chrome, Edge and Firefox hide new extensions in a menu until you pin them, and Helperbird arrives switched off.

manipulate the font and font size...

Amazing Extensions in chrome. I Installed in my parents computer, because my dad have a poor vision, due to bad eye surgery. this extension really helps to have able to manipulate the font and font size for more comfortable use instead of chrome zoom feature. Because the chrome zoom feature is its overly zoom will cause the page looking super weird.

you can finetune your experience ...

Where to start! Firstly, I'd like to thank Robert (the developer) for his generosity - the app is extremely cheap as apps go. It is very apparent that this app is a labour of love - Robert is constantly working on it and improving things, adding new features, etc. As someone with ADHD and ASD, I have always had to piece-meal together the features I need to help me study effectively - half a dozen different apps / extensions, and even then they don't quite meet my expectations. Helperbird, however, offers SO MUCH more, and all in one place - you can finetune your experience to your heart's desire. The features I particularly love are summarise, simplify, sticky notes, highlighting, and the amazing immersive reader with TTS. I can't sing Helperbird's praises enough. Thank you, Robert, for such a thoughtful - and genuinely helpful - app. You are empowering the neurodivergent everywhere.
