This End User License Agreement ("EULA") covers your use of Helperbird, a browser extension and set of accessibility and productivity tools made by Coffee & Fun LLC (which trades as Helperbird), a Limited Liability Company based in the State of Arkansas, USA.

By installing or using Helperbird, you agree to the terms below.

We have tried to write this in plain English. If anything is unclear, email us. We are happy to explain.

What you are allowed to do

We give you permission to use Helperbird. That permission is personal to you, can be taken back if you break these terms, and cannot be transferred to someone else.

Free version

You can use the free version of Helperbird for personal use or for work. Some features are only in the paid version.

The paid version unlocks more features. The details and prices are on our pricing page.

What you are not allowed to do

Unless we say otherwise, or the law says you can, please do not:

  • Take Helperbird apart, copy its code, or try to figure out how it is built.
  • Give, sell, rent, or share Helperbird in ways we did not intend.
  • Share a paid licence with people outside the organisation or domain it was bought for.
  • Use Helperbird to do anything illegal.

Our name and brand

"Helperbird" and the Helperbird bird logo are our trademarks. Please do not use them in a way that suggests we made or endorsed something we did not.

If you write about Helperbird in a blog post, a school newsletter, a research paper, or an accessibility guide, you are welcome to use the name "Helperbird" and to link to our website. Just keep it accurate.

If you would like to use the Helperbird logo for something good (a school accessibility guide, a research paper, a partnership announcement), email partnerships@helperbird.com and we will usually say yes.

Open source and third‑party software

Helperbird is built on the shoulders of giants. We use open‑source libraries and third‑party services (for example, easy‑speech, the Microsoft Azure Speech SDK, the OpenAI SDK, and Mozilla Readability) to deliver some features.

Each of those libraries has its own licence, and using Helperbird also means agreeing to those licences for the parts of Helperbird they cover.

If you want the full list of what we use, email legal@helperbird.com and we will send you the third‑party notices.

Apple App Store and iOS users

If you use Helperbird through the Apple App Store on iPhone, iPad, or Mac, a few extra things apply.

This agreement is between you and Helperbird. Apple is not a party to this EULA. We, not Apple, are responsible for Helperbird and its content.

The licence is for Apple devices you own or control. You can use Helperbird on any iPhone, iPad, or Mac you own or control, within the limits of the App Store rules you agreed to with Apple.

Support is on us. If Helperbird needs support, email support@helperbird.com. Apple is not responsible for any maintenance or support.

Warranties are on us. If Helperbird does not work the way it should, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price (if any). Beyond that refund, Apple has no warranty obligation.

Product claims are on us. If anyone makes a claim that Helperbird fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, that claim is between you and us. Apple is not responsible for product claims.

Intellectual property claims are on us. If a third party claims Helperbird infringes their intellectual property, we, not Apple, are responsible for handling it.

Legal use. You confirm you are not located in a country that is subject to US government embargo, and you are not on any US government list of prohibited or restricted parties.

Apple is a third‑party beneficiary. This means Apple and Apple's subsidiaries can enforce this EULA against you if you break it on an Apple device.

Privacy and your data

Your privacy matters to us.

The free version of Helperbird collects nothing. Most features run entirely on your device.

For Pro features, we recommend the subscription key. It needs no email, no name, and no personal information. If you prefer, there is also an optional email‑verification path.

When you use an online Pro feature (our AI tools, online natural voices, online voice typing, or Immersive Reader), only the text or content you choose gets sent. It is processed for a moment, then thrown away. We do not store it. We do not sell it. We do not use it to train AI models.

Helperbird runs under Zero Data Retention (ZDR) on our OpenAI organisation. Microsoft Azure Speech and Immersive Reader are also non‑retaining by default.

For the full picture, see our Privacy Policy and Compliance page.

Updates and changes

We update Helperbird often. New features, bug fixes, and security improvements come down regularly.

Updates may install automatically. We may also change, remove, or pause features without telling you first.

Paying for Pro

How subscriptions work

Pro is a subscription. Pricing and what each plan includes are on our pricing page.

Payments are handled by Stripe, a PCI DSS Level 1 certified payment processor. Helperbird never sees or stores your credit card number.

Cancelling and refunds

You can cancel any time. Your subscription stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for.

Refunds follow the policy on our website.

If your school or district paid by purchase order (PO), see the Term and Renewal section of our Terms of Service.

If we have to end your access

We may pause or end your access to Helperbird if you break this EULA.

If that happens, you need to stop using Helperbird.

The full account closure process is in our Terms of Service.

We do not promise it is perfect

Helperbird is provided "as is". We work hard to make it reliable, but we cannot promise it will always work perfectly, never have bugs, or be exactly what you need.

Limits on what we owe you

If something goes wrong, Coffee & Fun LLC is not responsible for indirect losses (like lost profits, lost time, or lost opportunities) that come from using, or not being able to use, Helperbird.

Healthcare use and Protected Health Information (PHI)

Helperbird is built for general accessibility and productivity. It is not built for handling Protected Health Information (PHI) under HIPAA.

If you plan to use Helperbird with PHI (for example, you work at a clinic, hospital, or agency and want to use it in a clinical workflow), please do not send any PHI through Helperbird until we have signed a Business Associate Agreement (BAA) with your organisation.

Email compliance@helperbird.com and we will sort it out. Our standard HIPAA Business Associate Agreement has the full template.

Which laws apply

This agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Arkansas, USA.

Changes to this EULA

We may update this EULA from time to time.

If we make important changes, we will let you know on our website or inside Helperbird.

Saying yes

When you use Helperbird, you are saying you have read this EULA, understood it, and agreed to it.
